Antonio Conte is delaying on making a decision on his next club despite interest from Roma and Inter and has made the Manchester United job his number once choice, according to reports in Italy. The former Chelsea boss has been out of work for a year after his acrimonious departure from Stamford Bridge, with the 49-year-old still locked in a legal battle with the west London club over compensation. Conte is now ready to return to management and has a host of offers from his homeland, with Roma, Inter and even old club Juventus reportedly keen to lure him back to Serie A.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte is happy to bide him time at a crucial moment in his career and considers the United job to be the most ‘striking’ option available to him. The 20-time English champions only just handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a permanent contract, but a run of seven defeats in 10 games has dealt a massive blow to United’s top-four hopes and raised question marks over the manager’s pedigree and suitability.
